Guntur (Andhra Pradesh) [India], February 27: Voting for the MLC elections in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh began today at 8 a.m. and will continue until 4 p.m., with counting scheduled for March 3. Among the prominent figures casting their votes, PDF candidate from Krishna constituency, KS Lakshmana Rao, and TDP candidate from Guntur constituency, Alapati Rajendra Prasad, voted at the polling station at MPUP School in Undavalli.
TDP candidate Alapati Rajendra Prasad spoke to the media after casting his vote, stating that the people of Andhra Pradesh were voting for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, emphasizing that survival in the state was possible only under the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. “The people are voting for the NDA government’s good governance. Surviving this state can only be made possible by the NDA government led by CM Chandrababu Naidu,” Prasad said.
Earlier in the day, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also cast his vote at the MPUP School polling booths. Naidu reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling the promises made by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) despite various challenges. He also released the schedule for implementing the Super-6 schemes in the Assembly and criticized the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) for demanding opposition status. Naidu reiterated that the three-party coalition had been formed to rebuild Andhra Pradesh and highlighted that the ‘Swarna Andhra – Vision 2047’ would guide the state’s progress.
The Chief Minister also lauded several initiatives introduced by the NDA government, including the increase in pensions from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000, with specific benefits for disabled individuals, dialysis patients, and bedridden individuals. He also mentioned the revival of Anna Canteens, the Deepam scheme providing three free gas cylinders, and financial assistance for farmers and fishermen, reinforcing the government’s commitment to welfare.
The elections today are seen as a crucial moment for the state’s political landscape, with key leaders and voters expressing their views on governance and welfare initiatives.
