Anandiben Patel, the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, told young women on Wednesday to be careful about living with someone since it could make them more vulnerable to being taken advantage of.
At the 47th convocation event of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith in Varanasi, the Governor encouraged the graduating women to be very careful about the decisions they make in their personal lives.
The Governor’s Warning About Making Choices
The Raj Bhavan said that Governor Patel gave the young graduates a powerful message regarding their safety and how to make decisions.
“Girls need to be careful before making any decisions and stay away from live-in relationships and other situations that could lead to exploitation,” she said.
The Governor, who is also the Chancellor of public colleges, told girl students to be careful in both their personal and social life because of the rise in violence against women.
Better Choices: She told kids to be smart about the choices they make and to always be on the lookout for people who might abuse their trust.
Education Beyond Degrees: Duty and Discipline
The Governor also utilized the convocation to stress the importance of social and moral responsibility, saying that getting a diploma is not the only thing that matters in life.
“Education is a way to change your life, not just a way to get certificates,” she said, asking students to include discipline, a sense of duty, and a sense of belonging to their country in their lives.
Civic Responsibility: She asked the students to take care of their university and hostel grounds and to commit to engaging in cleanliness initiatives for at least one hour per week to improve their surroundings.
Put your attention on research, the environment, and inclusion.
Governor Patel talked about both personal and moral issues, as well as those that are important for the university community in terms of academics and social life.
She talked on how important it is to maintain the environment, do organic farming, and study disasters. She said that natural disasters are typically caused by people messing up the balance of nature. “We have messed up the environment ourselves, and it is our job to fix it,” she remarked.
The Governor applauded the university’s work to promote education for the third gender and said that an MoU with Taiwan would soon be inked to increase academic cooperation.
Governor Patel was in charge of handing out degrees and gold medals to the graduating students during the occasion. She also gave out 300 Anganwadi kits to centers in Chandauli district and put out a commemorative memento and an illustrated biography of the university’s founder, Shiv Prasad Gupta, called Jhanki.
