On Saturday, the Gujarat Co-Operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which sells dairy products under the Amul brand, said that the prices of more than 700 product packs at stores would go down. These packs include ghee, butter, ice cream, baked goods, and frozen snacks.
The federation is passing on the benefits of the recent GST rate drop to customers, which is why they made this choice. Prices will go up on September 22, 2025.
GCMMF said in its statement, “This change affects all types of products, including butter, ghee, UHT milk, ice cream, cheese, paneer, chocolates, bakery items, frozen dairy and potato snacks, condensed milk, peanut spread, malt-based drink, and so on.”
Important Price Cuts
Amul butter (100 gm): down from ₹62 to ₹58
Ghee: now costs ₹610 per liter, down from ₹40.
The price of a 1 kilogram block of processed cheese went down by ₹30 to ₹545 per kg.
The price of frozen paneer (200 gm) went down from ₹99 to ₹95.
The federation claimed that the new price structure should encourage people to buy more ice cream, cheese, and butter, which are popular dairy products. This is because per capita dairy consumption in India is still low, which means there is a lot of room for growth.
GCMMF, which is owned by 36 lakh farmers, said that the price cuts would not only help customers but also enhance demand, which would lead to a rise in the federation’s turnover.
Mother Dairy made a similar announcement, saying it would lower the pricing of its products starting September 22.
