Amritsar Issues Civil Alert Amid Rising India-Pakistan Tensions: Citizens Urged To Stay Indoors

Amritsar (Punjab) [India]: As military tensions between India and Pakistan continue to escalate, the District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) in Amritsar issued an urgent public safety advisory on Friday, urging residents to remain indoors, switch off lights, and draw curtains as a precautionary measure.

“All citizens are requested to stay indoors and away from the windows, keep lights turned off, and draw the window curtains. There is no need to panic. A siren will blow now, and we will pass the message again once it is clear,” the DPRO stated.

The official emphasized public cooperation and reassured residents that Indian Armed Forces are fully engaged in defense operations.

“Our armed forces are on the job, and we need to support them by staying indoors. There is no need to panic,” the official reiterated.

This civilian alert follows a series of high-intensity exchanges between Indian and Pakistani forces:

  • On Thursday night, two Pakistani drones were shot down by the Indian Army in the Naushera sector of Jammu and Kashmir, amid heavy artillery exchanges.
  • According to the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, Pakistani forces targeted military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur, located close to the International Border.
  • The Indian response was swift, with no loss of life reported, and threats neutralized using both kinetic and non-kinetic means, in line with standard operating procedures.

“Military Stations of Jammu, Pathankot and Udhampur in proximity to the International Boundary, in Jammu and Kashmir, targeted by Pakistan using missiles and drones. No losses. Threat neutralised by Indian Armed Forces,” the HQ IDS said in a post on social media platform X.

This heightened alert in Amritsar marks one of the most direct civilian advisories in the region since the launch of India’s “Operation Sindoor”, which targeted terror camps across the Line of Control earlier this week.
