New Delhi: Amitabh Bachchan recently shared a memorable anecdote on the set of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 after a contestant posed a simple but relatable question: Did he ever look at price tags before buying something?
The Bollywood icon responded that checking prices is natural for everyone, before going on to narrate a rather awkward — yet defining — experience he once had in London.
Bachchan recounted, “We were just shopping around, and I happened to be looking at a tie when the shopkeeper, with a dismissive tone, said it cost 120 pounds.”
Taken aback by the condescension, the actor added, “I looked right back at him and responded, ‘Pack ten of these for me.’ It’s moments like these that remind me of the importance of showing our Indian spirit and confidence, even when faced with condescension. We sometimes need to make it clear that we are not to be underestimated.”

In another newly shared promo from the KBC makers, Amitabh Bachchan was seen fielding a playful question from a contestant about his college life. The contestant asked whether Big B ever visited prominent women’s colleges like Lady Shri Ram College (LSR), Gargi, or Kamala Nehru College during his youth.
The actor, known for his sharp wit, initially appeared to avoid the question before humorously responding:
“Dekhiye devi ji, ab hum shaadi-shuda ho gaye hain, aur nati-pota bhi ho gaye hain. Ab woh zamana jo tha wo jawani ka zamana tha, hai na? Uske baare mein aapko kya bataye? Abhi batane se humari poori pole khul jayegi. Aur yeh sarwajanik karyakram hai, log phir sochenge ‘Acha aisa tha woh?’ Humara impression kharab ho jayega.”
