Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan skipped his usual Sunday fan meet this week as he began shooting for the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD in Hyderabad. In his latest blog post, Big B shared behind-the-scenes pictures from the set, including shots of his transformation into Ashwatthama and a heartwarming hug with veteran actor Kamal Haasan, marking their reunion after three decades.
Amitabh expressed his joy at working with Kamal again, writing, “Meeting up with the great Kamal Haasan … we shall be working together after ages … Kalki 2 has begun the work … and shall ever cherish the love and affection of anticipated presence on the Sunday … My love.”
In the first Kalki 2898 AD, Amitabh impressed audiences with his portrayal of Ashwatthama, with many saying he outshone Prabhas, while Kamal Haasan had a brief role. The sequel, helmed by Nag Ashwin, will reportedly not feature Deepika Padukone, but Prabhas, Amitabh, and Kamal Haasan will reprise their roles. Fans are excited as the sequel is set to explore Kamal Haasan’s character in greater depth, alongside expanded arcs for Ashwatthama and Karna. The original film was a blockbuster, grossing ₹1,042 crore worldwide.
