Amit Shah To Meet Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai Today Over Criminal Law Implementation, Naxal Strategy & Bastar Development

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to hold a high-level meeting today with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at the Ministry of Home Affairs in North Block, focusing on the state’s readiness to implement the three newly enacted criminal laws and boosting the state’s anti-Naxal strategy and tourism development.

The meeting will include top officials such as Chhattisgarh’s Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, Union Home Secretary, and heads of institutions like the Bureau of Police Research and Development and National Crime Records Bureau.

Key Agenda Points:

🔸 Implementation Review of New Laws
The core of the meeting will be a review of how Chhattisgarh is preparing for the rollout of:

  • Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 – replacing the Indian Penal Code (IPC)
  • Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023 – replacing the CrPC
  • Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), 2023 – replacing the Indian Evidence Act

Union Home Minister Shah is expected to direct continuous monitoring of the implementation, especially with regard to police training, forensics infrastructure, court procedures, prison reforms, and prosecution mechanisms.

Naxalism and Security Upgrades

CM Sai is likely to request central support for strengthening security forces in Naxal-hit regions, particularly through:

  • Advanced surveillance and technology tools
  • Better logistics and infrastructure
  • Long-term strategic planning to eliminate Left-Wing Extremism

Bastar Development Vision

The meeting is also set to feature a developmental pitch for Bastar, with discussions on:

  • Transforming Bastar into a major eco-tourism and cultural tourism hub
  • Promoting tribal heritage, adventure tourism, homestay models, and traditional fairs
  • Enhanced rollout of the ‘Niyad Nellanar Yojana’ for empowering tribal communities, especially women-led self-help groups

This comes as part of the Modi government’s broader push to align law enforcement reforms with regional development and security agendas. Amit Shah has held similar meetings with several Union Territory administrators and other CMs to ensure seamless enforcement of the new criminal law regime across India.
