Gopalganj (Bihar) [India], March 30: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while addressing a rally in Gopalganj, urged the people of Bihar to vote for the NDA government in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections and promised to make the state flood-free.
Pledge to Eliminate Floods in Bihar
Shah emphasized the financial assistance provided by the Central Government for the Western Kosi Canal project, which aims to mitigate Bihar’s recurring flood issues.
“I request you all to form the NDA government for another five years, and we assure you that we will make Bihar flood-free. Floods will become a thing of the past. Under the leadership of PM Modi, cultural development will be done, and the heritage of Bihar will be respected,” Shah said.
Attack on Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Tenure
Shah criticized former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav, calling his 1990-2005 rule a period of “Jungle Raj”, marked by corruption and misgovernance.
“What did Lalu Yadav’s government do in Bihar from 1990 to 2005? Lalu Yadav’s government defamed Bihar by engaging in the fodder scam. His government will always be remembered as ‘Jungle Raj’ in Bihar’s history,” he said.
Highlighting NDA’s Achievements
Shah contrasted Lalu’s governance with the work done under Nitish Kumar and PM Narendra Modi, citing improvements in infrastructure and welfare programs.
“During Nitish Kumar’s tenure, roads, electricity, and tap water have reached every village. PM Modi has uplifted Bihar’s poor by providing houses, toilets, water, medicines, and ration,” Shah added.
Boosting Agriculture and Industry
Shah outlined the BJP’s agricultural initiatives, focusing on Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and the revival of maize farming and closed industries.
- Investment of ₹1,000 crore in a maize processing center to support farmers.
- Revival of sugar mills, enhancement of pulses and oilseed production.
- PACS expansion into pharmacy stores and petrol pumps.
Foundation Stones for Development Projects
Earlier in the day, Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects in Bihar, reinforcing the NDA’s focus on economic and infrastructural growth.
Shah’s visit comes ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections later this year, setting the stage for a high-stakes political battle.
