Amit Shah Praises BSF’s Dedication, Pledges Tech Boost For Border Security in Kathua Visit

Kathua (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], April 7: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday lauded the unwavering commitment of the Border Security Force (BSF) in protecting the nation’s frontiers under the most challenging conditions. Visiting the ‘Vinay’ border outpost in Kathua, Shah called the BSF the“first line of defense” and emphasized the government’s dedication to modernizing border security through cutting-edge technology.

“Whether it’s biting cold, torrential rain, or scorching 45-degree heat, BSF jawans remain on duty 24/7, 365 days a year. The nation sleeps in peace because of your constant vigilance,” Shah said while addressing BSF personnel.

He affirmed that over the next 3–4 years, the government will bolster the BSF’s capabilities along the India-Pakistan and India-Bangladesh borders with advanced threat detection systems and rapid response technology, ensuring seamless security.

Shah reiterated the government’s full support for BSF operations and mentioned that 26 experimental projects are currently underway to enhance operational efficiency. “These trials will help us implement practical solutions that directly benefit the personnel on the ground,” he added.

During the visit, the Union Home Minister also presented appointment letters to family members of Jammu and Kashmir police officials who laid down their lives fighting terrorism.

Speaking at the event, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat acknowledged the sacrifices of security personnel and praised Shah’s ‘Zero Terror’ strategy, stating it has greatly strengthened their resolve. “So far, 1,620 police personnel have been martyred. Recently, our team neutralized two Pakistani terrorists. The J&K Police, in coordination with other agencies, has dismantled key terror networks. Our mission is to make Jammu and Kashmir terrorism-free,” he said.
