Amit Shah Hails BSF As ‘First Line Of Defense’; Vows Advanced Tech For Border Security In Kathua Visit

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday praised the Border Security Force (BSF) for its unwavering vigilance and service in some of the most extreme and challenging conditions across India’s frontiers. Speaking at the ‘Vinay’ Border Outpost in Kathua, Shah called the BSF India’s “first line of defense” and announced upcoming technological upgrades to bolster border safety.

“Whether in intense cold, heavy rain, or 45-degree heat, not a single moment allows you to relax. You have to remain stationed 365 days a year, 24 hours a day,”

🛡️ BSF: Nation’s First Line of Defense

Shah lauded the BSF’s contributions in maintaining national security, particularly along the India-Pakistan border, where the force has fought valiantly during past conflicts. He acknowledged their role in defending India from both military threats and cross-border terrorism.

“In every war with Pakistan, the BSF has played a crucial role alongside the Army.”


🔬 Technology-Driven Border Security

The Home Minister announced that 26 new tech experiments are currently underway to modernize border surveillance and response systems. The government is committed to rolling out advanced threat detection and response tools along:

  • The India-Pakistan border, followed by
  • The India-Bangladesh border

He assured BSF personnel that implementation of these systems will be prioritized over the next 3–4 years, enhancing both efficiency and safety.


🎖️ Tributes & Welfare for Martyrs’ Families

Shah also handed over appointment letters to the kin of martyred Jammu & Kashmir police personnel, reaffirming the government’s commitment to their welfare.

🔹 Over 1,620 police personnel have laid down their lives in the fight against terrorism in J&K.
🔹 Recent operations saw the neutralization of Pakistani terrorists, signaling successful coordination among security agencies.


Amit Shah’s visit comes as a strong message of support and solidarity for India’s security forces and a clear step toward a tech-empowered border defense strategy.
