The four individuals have been nominated under Article 80(1)(a), read with clause (3) of the Constitution, which allows the President to nominate persons with special knowledge or practical experience in literature, science, art, and social service.

Harsh Vardhan Shringla, former Foreign Secretary, also served as India’s ambassador to the U.S. and Bangladesh. Ujjwal Nikam is one of the country’s most well-known public prosecutors, noted for leading landmark cases including the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and the 1993 Bombay blasts.
