Amit Shah Attacks Kejriwal On Final Day Of Delhi Election Campaigning

New Delhi [India]: Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah launched a sharp attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on the last day of campaigning for the Delhi Assembly elections. He accused Kejriwal of “committing a sin” by alleging that the Haryana government had “poisoned” the Yamuna River.

Addressing a massive gathering in the Bijwasan Assembly constituency, Shah criticized Kejriwal for blaming others instead of fulfilling his promises.

“They have just committed a sin. Kejriwal said that the Haryana government is mixing poison in the water of Yamuna. Kejriwal used to call himself the son of Haryana, but now he has insulted Haryana. They could not purify the water themselves, hence they are blaming Haryana and insulting the people of Haryana,” Shah stated.

The Home Minister also slammed the AAP government over its now-scrapped excise policy, calling it an example of Kejriwal’s “deception.”

“He (Arvind Kejriwal) has created a flood of scams. A liquor scam worth thousands of crores was committed, and liquor shops were opened near temples, schools, and gurudwaras,” Shah alleged.

He further accused the AAP government of being involved in multiple scams, including:

  • ₹28,400 crore water board scam
  • ₹4,500 crore DTC bus scam
  • ₹1,300 crore classroom scam
  • ₹571 crore CCTV scam

“Kejriwal, who came to fight against corruption, himself became the embodiment of corruption, and both Bade Miyan and Chote Miyan went to jail in the liquor scam,” he added.

AAP MLAs Defect to BJP

Shah also pointed out the growing number of AAP leaders switching sides, stating that Kejriwal’s party is losing support.

“The time has come to free Delhi from liquor mafias, scamsters, and hardcore dishonest people… He (Kejriwal) did not fulfill any of his promises. That is why today more than 50% of their MLAs have left them… Kejriwal ji, aapake yahaan ye bhagdad kyun machee hai?” Shah questioned.

On February 1, eight AAP MLAs resigned and joined the BJP after being denied tickets for the upcoming elections. The defectors include Vandana Gaur (Palam), Rohit Mehraulia (Trilokpuri), Girish Soni, Madan Lal (Kasturba Nagar), Rajesh Rishi (Janakpuri), Bhupender Singh June (Bijwasan), Naresh Yadav (Mehrauli), and Pawan Sharma (Adarsh Nagar).

Allegations on Failing Infrastructure

Shah also accused the AAP government of neglecting Delhi’s infrastructure and deceiving the public.

“For 10 years, Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kejriwal have been deceiving the public. In the name of connectivity, such roads were provided that it cannot be known whether there is a pothole in the road or the road is in the pothole. They are sending polluted water through pipes. He committed a scam of conducting 65,000 fake tests in the name of Mohalla Clinic. Forget about Bijwasan, half of Delhi turns into a pond during rains,” he alleged.

Delhi Assembly Elections on February 5

As the campaign period ends, BJP, AAP, and Congress have intensified their attacks on each other. Earlier today, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a roadshow in the Moti Nagar constituency.

In Bijwasan, BJP’s Kailash Gahlot faces AAP’s Surender Bhardwaj and Congress’ Devinder Kumar Sehrawat in a three-way contest. Meanwhile, in Moti Nagar, BJP’s Harish Khurana, AAP’s Shivcharan Goel, and Congress’ Rajender Singh are competing for the seat.

Delhi Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on February 5, with vote counting scheduled for February 8.
