Washington DC [US]: American citizen Faye Hall, who was recently freed from Taliban captivity, expressed heartfelt gratitude to US President Donald Trump in a message released on Saturday (local time).
A Message of Thanks
In a video message shared by The White House on X, Hall said she was “glad” that Trump was president and thanked him for bringing her back “home.”
“I’m glad you’re the President, and thank you for bringing me home. I have never been so proud to be an American citizen. Thank you, Mr. President,” Hall said, crediting Trump for her release.
Reflecting on her time in captivity, she revealed that other women imprisoned in the Afghan jail saw Trump as their “savior.”
“And I just want you to know that all the women in the Afghan jail, they always ask me, ‘When is Trump coming?’ They treat you like their savior. They are waiting for you to come and set them free,” Hall added.
How Was Faye Hall Released?
Faye Hall had been detained by the Taliban in Afghanistan since February, reportedly for operating a drone without authorization.
CNN, citing sources, reported that:
✅ Hall was released on Thursday following a court order
✅ The release was facilitated by Qatar, which acted as an intermediary
✅ She was received at the Qatari Embassy in Kabul and is in good health after medical checks
✅ Arrangements are currently underway for her return to the US
Qatar’s Role in the Negotiation
The US does not have a diplomatic presence in Afghanistan since the Taliban takeover in August 2021. Qatar represents US interests as a “protective power.”
US former ambassador to Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, confirmed Hall’s release, thanking Qatar:
“American citizen Faye Hall, just released by the Taliban, is now in the care of our friends, the Qataris in Kabul, and will soon be on her way home. Thank you, #Qatar, for your ongoing and steadfast partnership,” Khalilzad wrote on X.
Diplomatic Push Behind the Release
Faye Hall’s release comes after a diplomatic push led by:

Their recent trip to Kabul helped secure the release of another American citizen, George Glezmann, also mediated by Qatar.
