New Delhi [India] : The Union government convened an all-party meeting on Thursday to brief political leaders on the decisive actions taken during Operation Sindoor, which saw the destruction of nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The meeting, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, aimed to inform representatives from various political parties about the Indian Armed Forces’ precision strikes carried out on Wednesday morning in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
Addressing the media after the session, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju praised the collective political maturity demonstrated across party lines. “All leaders showed unity and congratulated the armed forces for their successful operation. Suggestions were also shared, and support for the government and military was unanimous,” Rijiju stated.
He stressed the importance of national solidarity, cautioning against misinformation. “We urge everyone not to fall for fake news and rely only on official, verified information.”
AIMIM leader and MP Asaduddin Owaisi echoed the support while calling on the government to take concrete steps in Kashmir. “This is a golden opportunity to confront Pakistan and embrace Kashmiris. Victims of the Poonch shelling must be declared terrorist victims and should receive compensation and housing,” he said.
Owaisi also emphasized the need for clarity from the Indian Air Force following international media speculation about a Rafale jet crash, which he said could harm the morale of armed forces if left unaddressed.
Operation Sindoor involved deep strikes on terror infrastructure in Bhawalpur and Muridke, both notorious for hosting militant outfits like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba. The operation marked a significant escalation in India’s response to cross-border terrorism.
