Alka Lamba Calls Congress The “Only Alternative” Ahead Of Delhi Assembly Elections

Congress candidate Alka Lamba launched a fierce critique of both the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the race for the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 heats up. Speaking to media, Lamba positioned Congress as the only viable alternative to address pressing issues like pollution, crime, and governance in the national capital.

Fielded against Delhi Chief Minister Atishi in Kalkaji, Lamba emphasized Congress’ experience and welfare initiatives in other states. “In Karnataka, Telangana, and Himachal Pradesh, we are giving benefits to the people. Women are receiving Rs 2,000-2,500 directly into their bank accounts, and free bus rides are being provided. These are tangible benefits that make a difference,” she stated.

Highlighting Congress’ legacy, Lamba credited the late Sheila Dikshit for Delhi’s infrastructure. “If Sheila Dikshit hadn’t built flyovers, Delhi would be gridlocked. Today, the air is poisonous, and an epidemic is looming. We have a clear roadmap to fight pollution,” she added.

Lamba criticized both BJP and AAP for their governance in Delhi, citing rising pollution and crime. “The air in Delhi is poisonous. We need permanent solutions, not temporary fixes. AAP’s CM is a ‘temporary CM.’ Delhi has become the capital of crime. Anti-incumbency against BJP and AAP is strong, and the Congress is the only alternative,” she asserted.

Taking a swipe at AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, Lamba accused him of undermining women in constitutional positions. “This is my fifth election. In 30 years of politics, I’ve never seen a former CM call someone on a constitutional post a ‘temporary CM.’ It’s an insult to women, and Atishi must respond to this,” Lamba said, referencing Kejriwal’s remarks.

The Congress candidate faces a tough contest against AAP’s Atishi and BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri in Kalkaji.

As the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 approach, the political battlefield has become increasingly contentious, with AAP, BJP, and Congress exchanging sharp criticisms. The elections are scheduled for February, with dates expected to be announced soon.
