Washington DC [US], July 8: The highly anticipated third season of the Japanese sci-fi thriller Alice in Borderland is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix on September 25. Alongside the announcement, Netflix has also released a teaser, heightening excitement among fans.
The hit series, which originally soared to the top of Netflix’s Global Top 10 for non-English shows with Season 2, plunges once again into the eerie alternate realm that blurs the lines between life and death. Based on Haro Aso’s popular manga, Season 3 continues to expand its mysterious universe with new characters and intense survival games.
Returning to direct is Shinsuke Sato, reuniting with Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya, who reprise their lead roles as Arisu and Usagi. Season 3 picks up with the couple now married and trying to live peacefully, but haunted by disturbing visions of the Borderland.
Their peace is shattered when Usagi suddenly disappears under mysterious circumstances. She’s guided back to the Borderland by a man named Ryuji (played by newcomer Kento Kaku), who is studying the afterlife. Arisu, devastated, learns her whereabouts from Banda—now a resident of the Borderland—and must venture back into the world they believed they had left behind.
The returning cast includes Hayato Isomura, Ayaka Miyoshi, and Katsuya Maiguma. New additions for Season 3 include Koji Ohkura, Risa Sudou, Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, Tina Tamashiro, Kotaro Daigo, Hyunri, Sakura Kiryu, Yugo Mikawa, Joey Iwanaga, Akana Ikeda, and more.
Produced by Robot and developed with The Seven, the series’ creative team includes writers Yasuko Kuramitsu and Shinsuke Sato, composer Yutaka Yamada, cinematographer Taro Kawazu, and production designers Iwao Saito and Shin Nakayama. Action sequences are directed by Yuji Shimomura, with VFX supervised by Atsushi Doi. Akira Morii and Tomoki Takase return as producers.
With its blend of psychological tension, action, and mystery, Alice in Borderland Season 3 is expected to deepen the lore and stakes of the series, promising another thrilling chapter.
