Washington [US], February 20: Actor Alia Shawkat is set to star alongside Kristen Stewart in the lead role of The Wrong Girls, a new film written and directed by Dylan Meyer.
The movie follows best friends Frankie (played by Kristen Stewart) and Molly (played by Alia Shawkat) as they navigate life living paycheck to paycheck. Their lives take a dramatic turn when a case of mistaken identity sends everything into chaos.
The film also features a strong supporting cast, including Seth Rogen, Kumail Nanjiani, LaKeith Stanfield, Zack Fox, and Tony Hale, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Dylan Meyer, who is known for writing, directing, and co-producing her 2019 short film Rock Bottom, takes the helm of this feature project. The production will span 29 days, employing around 100 people daily, with 95% of them being Los Angeles locals. The team includes cinematographer Todd Banhazl, singer-songwriter and composer Ty Segall, and costume designer Heidi Bivens.
The Wrong Girls is produced by Maggie McLean, Kristen Stewart, and Dylan Meyer through Nevermind Pictures, alongside Alex McAtee, James Weaver, Seth Rogen, and Evan Goldberg for Point Grey. Additionally, Allison Carter and Jon Read are producing for Savage Rose Productions in partnership with Neon.
Neon plans to release the film theatrically in the U.S. and will also shop the international rights.
Alia Shawkat, known for her recent roles in Zoe Kravitz’s Blink Twice and the second season of Apple TV+’s Severance, as well as the Sundance-winning drama Atropia, continues to impress with a diverse range of performances.
