Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 9: Actress Alia Bhatt’s former personal assistant, Vedika Prakash Shetty, has been arrested by Mumbai Police for allegedly cheating the actress and misappropriating funds from her production house, Eternal Sunshine Productions Pvt. Ltd.
According to officials, Vedika—who was nabbed in Bengaluru—had been serving as a secretary at Alia’s company. Due to her role, she was entrusted with financial access and responsibilities. Over a span of two years, from August 2022 to 2024, Vedika is accused of embezzling over ₹76 lakh from the company’s accounts.
The complaint was filed by Alia’s mother, Soni Bhatt, earlier this year at the Juhu Police Station in Mumbai. Following the complaint, a case was registered on January 23, 2025, under Sections 316(4) and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Alia Bhatt is busy filming Alpha, a major upcoming entry in Yash Raj Films’ celebrated spy universe. Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film is slated for release on December 25. She is also working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
