Alia Bhatt is no stranger to balancing a hectic film schedule with family life, but when her co-star is also her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, the dynamic takes on a new layer. In a candid interview with Grazia, Alia opened up about the challenges and, more surprisingly, the joys of working alongside Ranbir on their upcoming film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s highly anticipated Love and War, all while raising their daughter, Raha, who was born in 2022.
Contrary to what one might expect, Alia revealed that the experience has been overwhelmingly positive. “It sounds cheesy, but there are no cons to this—only pros,” she said with a laugh. The real hurdle, she explained, isn’t professional collaboration but rather the intricate task of managing their daughter’s routine.
“We’ve shot most of the film at night, so we’re usually with her during the day. There are days he’s shooting, days I am. We’re not always on set together,” she added, detailing their strategic approach to co-parenting. This schedule allows both actors to dedicate their daytime hours to Raha, ensuring their roles as parents are never compromised.
Alia also acknowledged the indispensable “village” that supports them, highlighting the privilege of having a strong network. She shared that Raha has even made occasional visits to the set and seems to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere. “She’s got a very busy life herself with classes, playdates, grandparents, and activities,” Alia noted. “It does take a village, in a sense, and I feel very grateful for all my loved ones and the privilege that I have with this support system.”
A Packed Professional Slate
Beyond her journey in co-parenting, Alia Bhatt has a thrilling lineup of projects on the horizon. She is set to headline Alpha, an action-packed thriller directed by Shiv Rawail. The film will see her take on a never-before-seen avatar as a high-ranking officer in a fictional all-female combat unit, marking her entry into YRF’s celebrated Spy Universe.
The actress is also reuniting with Ranbir Kapoor and master filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Love and War, which also stars Vicky Kaushal. The period romantic drama marks the second on-screen collaboration for the couple after their mythological fantasy film, Brahmāstra, and has already set expectations sky-high.
