Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] : Akshay Kumar-starrer Kesari 2 continues its impressive run at the box office, showing solid growth in its second week, according to trade analyst estimates.
On its opening day, the film minted Rs 7.84 crore net, as per analyst Taran Adarsh. Though there was a slight dip in collections after the initial release, strong word-of-mouth and the absence of major new releases helped Kesari 2 regain momentum. So far, the film has collected an estimated Rs 57.79 crore.
Sharing the box office update on X, Taran Adarsh wrote, “POWER OF SOLID CONTENT… #KesariChapter2 springs a massive surprise – its second Friday collections are close to its first Friday [Rs 7.84 cr], which had the advantage of the #GoodFriday holiday… A rarity in today’s times! An excellent 77.78 per cent growth on its second Saturday clearly indicates that the film is here to stay for a while. Another strong showing today [Sunday] should comfortably push #KesariChapter2 past the Rs 65 cr mark.”
The Kesari 2 team has been actively promoting the film. On Saturday, Akshay Kumar and co-star R Madhavan surprised fans by attending a screening in Mumbai. They also recently hosted a special screening for renowned politicians in Delhi.
Kesari Chapter 2, based on “The Case That Shook The Empire” by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat, highlights the life of lawyer C. Sankaran Nair, played by Akshay Kumar, and explores the events around the tragic 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
The film, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and produced by Karan Johar, also features Ananya Panday in a key role.
