Mumbai (Maharashtra), February 15: The upcoming film based on the life of India’s prominent barrister C. Sankaran Nair, starring Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, and Ananya Panday, has been given a new release date. Now titled Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, the film was initially set to release on March 14, 2025, but will now hit theatres on April 18, 2025.
The movie, which is produced by Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective, and Cape of Good Films, focuses on C. Sankaran Nair’s courageous battle against the British Raj to uncover the truth about the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the update on Twitter confirming the new title and release date, adding that the film will be released on Good Friday, April 18, 2025. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, the movie features a star cast including Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, and Ananya Panday.
The film is based on the book The Case That Shook The Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat, with Raghu Palat being the great-grandson of C. Sankaran Nair. The untold story explores Nair’s pivotal role in the courtroom battle against the British Raj, aiming to bring the truth of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre to light, a fight that became a catalyst for India’s freedom struggle.
Previously, Dharma Productions had teased the untitled project on Instagram, sharing excitement about bringing this significant part of history to the big screen, with Karan Johar expressing his enthusiasm for showcasing the heroic tale of C. Sankaran Nair.
