Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, known for his relentless work ethic and numerous film releases, offered a profound perspective on wealth, success, and family during a recent press conference. While discussing the life lessons he hopes to pass on to his daughter, Nitara, the actor unequivocally stated that peace of mind surpasses all financial success.
When questioned about his plans to instill the value of money in his daughter, Akshay dismissed the notion, arguing that the importance of earning is inherently understood by everyone. “I don’t think I need to [teach her about money]. Everyone understands the value of money in their own way. We all work for it, you, me, everyone here. That’s normal. I don’t have to teach anybody about money,” he explained.
However, he immediately pivoted to a higher priority: mental well-being. “Everybody knows the importance of money. But what’s more important than money is peace of mind. That’s what I always go for. Yes, I work hard, I work for money, but if I have to choose between the two, I’ll always choose peace of mind over money,” he emphasized, underscoring the necessity of prioritizing one’s mental and emotional state over material wealth.
Urgent Call for Cyber Safety Education
Beyond financial wisdom, the actor used the opportunity to highlight a growing menace: online safety for children. Speaking earlier at a cyber awareness program in Mumbai, Akshay revealed a disturbing incident involving his 13-year-old daughter, Nitara. While playing an online video game with strangers, Nitara was allegedly asked to send inappropriate pictures.
“She immediately switched it off and told my wife,” the actor shared. He stressed that such incidents underscore the urgent need for comprehensive cyber safety education in schools and homes. “These incidents show how urgently children need to be educated about online safety,” he asserted, making a plea for immediate action to protect minors in the digital space.
Akshay Kumar has been married to author and former actress Twinkle Khanna since 2001, and the couple has two children: son Aarav (23) and daughter Nitara (13).
On the professional front, the busy actor recently starred in the successful Jolly LLB 3 and had multiple other releases this year, including Sky Force, Kesari Chapter 2, Kannappa, and Housefull 5. His next highly anticipated film, the comedy-action flick Welcome to the Jungle, is scheduled to arrive in theatres in December this year.
