Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 27– Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has finally addressed the controversy surrounding his co-star Paresh Rawal’s abrupt exit from the highly anticipated Hera Pheri 3. Speaking at the trailer launch of Housefull 5, Akshay acknowledged the buzz surrounding the film but emphasized that the matter is serious and under legal consideration.
Paresh Rawal’s sudden departure from Hera Pheri 3 shocked fans and the industry alike, especially after director Priyadarshan had earlier confirmed his involvement. Amidst the growing speculation and online trolling, Akshay came to his long-time co-star’s defense.
“I wouldn’t appreciate people using words like ‘foolish’ for someone so senior,” Akshay said, showing support for Rawal despite their ongoing dispute.
He highlighted the deep professional and personal bond they share, saying, “I have been working with him for the last 30 years. We are very good friends. He’s a great actor and I really admire him.”
However, Akshay clarified that the trailer event was not the appropriate forum to delve into the matter. “Jo bhi kuch hai (whatever the matter is), I don’t think this is the right place. I’m not going to talk about it. It is a very serious matter, and it’s going to be handled by the court,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Paresh Rawal addressed the situation via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, confirming that his lawyer, Ameet Naik, had issued a formal response regarding his “rightful termination and exit” from the film. “Once they read my response, all issues will be laid to rest,” Rawal wrote.
He also dispelled rumors that creative differences led to his exit, saying, “I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from Hera Pheri 3 was not due to creative differences. I reiterate that there are no creative disagreements with the filmmaker. I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr. Priyadarshan.”
Directed by Priyadarshan, Hera Pheri 3 was expected to reunite the original trio—Akshay Kumar, Suneil Shetty, and Paresh Rawal—who starred in the iconic comedy franchise’s earlier installments. The ongoing legal and personal drama has cast uncertainty over the beloved film’s production.
