Ajinkya Rahane, Yashasvi Jaiswal To Miss Remaining Ranji Trophy Matches For Mumbai

Former India captain Ajinkya Rahane and India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal will not be available for Mumbai for the remainder of the Ranji Trophy 2025–26 season, which resumes on January 22 with the second round of league matches.

Mumbai are scheduled to face Hyderabad in an away fixture from January 22 to 25, before returning home to play Delhi from January 29 in their final league-stage encounter. However, the team will be without two of its most experienced batters for both matches.

Both Rahane and Jaiswal are not available for the remaining two matches of the Ranji Trophy season,” a senior official of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) told PTI on Saturday.

The official further clarified that Rahane’s absence is due to personal reasons.

Rahane’s Recent Domestic Appearances

The 37-year-old Rahane, who stepped down from the Mumbai captaincy ahead of the 2025–26 season, last featured in the Ranji Trophy during a home match against Himachal Pradesh in November 2025.

While Rahane represented Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament, he did not play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where Mumbai’s campaign ended in the quarterfinals following a 55-run defeat to Karnataka.

Squad Updates Ahead of Ranji Trophy Matches

In response to the absences, Suved Parkar and Sairaj Patil have been added to the Mumbai squad. The final team list, however, is yet to be officially announced.

Mumbai will now look to regroup and secure crucial points in the remaining league matches as they aim to progress further in the premier domestic red-ball competition.
