Air India Aircraft Cleared After Security Alert; Crash Probe Into AI-171 Continues

New Delhi [India], June 27: A non-specific security alert was detected on an Air India aircraft on Friday, prompting standard security procedures. After thorough checks, the aircraft was cleared for its next flight, the airline confirmed.

“A non-specific security alert was detected on one of our aircraft. Standard security procedures were duly carried out, and the aircraft has been cleared for the next flight. Air India accords top priority to the safety and security of its passengers and crew,” said an Air India spokesperson.

Earlier this week, another Air India subsidiary, Air India Express, experienced a mid-air technical issue on flight IX2564 from Delhi to Jammu. The Airbus A320 aircraft took off at 11:04 AM, slightly behind schedule, but was forced to return to Delhi due to the malfunction. An alternative aircraft was arranged for the passengers.

“We regret the inconvenience caused,” said an Air India Express spokesperson.

These incidents come in the aftermath of the tragic crash of Air India flight AI-171, en route from Ahmedabad to London, on June 12. The crash claimed 241 lives, leaving only one survivor.

In the ongoing investigation, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) and the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have begun analyzing data from the aircraft’s Black Box and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR). According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, memory module data was successfully retrieved at the AAIB Lab and is currently under detailed review.

Authorities aim to reconstruct the chain of events that led to the crash and identify factors to enhance future aviation safety.
