Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India]: AIADMK spokesperson Kovai Sathyan lashed out at the DMK for criticizing Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) over his recent meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.
Sathyan stated that the DMK’s reaction showcased how “rattled” the ruling party was. He clarified that the meeting was not about alliance talks but focused on state issues, including delimitation, NEET, and corruption allegations under the DMK government.
Key Issues Raised by EPS
Sathyan emphasized that Palaniswami’s visit aimed at highlighting:
✔️ Delimitation concerns
✔️ NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) reservations
✔️ Alleged corruption under MK Stalin’s DMK government
“It clearly indicates how rattled DMK is. This was not a meeting about alliances. It was to expose MK Stalin’s incompetence and government failures. Our leader met Amit Shah to seek the central government’s intervention in protecting Tamil Nadu’s rights, including delimitation, language issues, NEET, and rampant corruption worth thousands of crores across various departments,” said Sathyan.
He further accused MK Stalin of attempting to divert attention by misinterpreting the purpose of the meeting.
AIADMK’s Stand on Alliances
Following his meeting with Amit Shah, Palaniswami reiterated that AIADMK will decide on alliances closer to the elections.
“On alliances, I have spoken several times. Is any party firm on its alliances? Even DMK’s alliances are uncertain. Political scenarios keep changing. We made an alliance announcement in February 2019; we will do the same when the elections approach. Right now, it’s too early to comment,” EPS said.
This statement comes amid speculation over AIADMK’s political strategy for the upcoming elections.
