Chennai, December 11: AIADMK National Spokesperson Kovai Sathyan launched a sharp attack on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, calling him a “pathological liar.” The remarks followed Stalin’s denial of allegations that he met industrialist Gautam Adani. Sathyan claimed Adani had a personal meeting with Stalin and his family at the CM’s residence.
“MK Stalin is not just a habitual but a pathological liar. Adani met Stalin at his residence, and the entire state is aware of this. Stalin denied it only because it was a personal visit, not an official one,” Sathyan told media.
Accusations Over Tungsten Mining in Madurai
Sathyan also accused the DMK government of orchestrating a cover-up regarding the auction of tungsten mining in Madurai. He alleged that DMK is enacting “dramas” to divert attention from their involvement in the issue.
“DMK’s incompetence and inaction led to the auctioning of tungsten mining in Madurai. It was Stalin’s sister, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, who first posted about this on social media. Stalin then wrote a letter to the Prime Minister eight days later, but neither his government nor officials have provided evidence of their claims to the Centre,” Sathyan said.
He further denied AIADMK’s alleged support for the mining project, stating, “In the August 2023 Amendment Bill, there is no mention of AIADMK supporting tungsten mining.”
DMK’s Response and Assembly Resolution
The Tamil Nadu Assembly recently passed a resolution opposing the tungsten mining project. CM MK Stalin stated that as long as he remains Chief Minister, tungsten mining at Melur in Madurai will not be permitted. Stalin called the allegations against DMK baseless and politically motivated.
BJP Weighs In
Tamil Nadu BJP also criticized both DMK and AIADMK for their “unfounded” allegations regarding the tungsten mining project. BJP state spokesperson ANS Prasad labeled the assembly protest as “political theatre,” asserting that the Centre prioritizes agricultural welfare and does not impose projects on states.
