At AI Summit, The World Saw India’s Amazing Capabilities, Says PM Modi

In the 131st episode of Mann Ki Baat, aired on February 22, 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the success of the recently concluded India AI Impact Summit. He emphasized that the event served as a global stage where India demonstrated its ability to harmonize cutting-edge technology with its deep-rooted cultural heritage.

Tech Meets Tradition: The Exhibition Highlights

The Prime Minister noted that international leaders were particularly moved by two major technological applications showcased at the summit:

  • AI in Agriculture (The Amul Model): At the Amul booth, an AI-driven assistance model demonstrated how technology is revolutionizing livestock care. It allows farmers to monitor animal health 24×7 and receive real-time medical advice, ensuring both dairy productivity and animal welfare.
  • Preserving Ancient Wisdom (The Sushrut Samhita): A major cultural highlight was the digital revival of ancient manuscripts. Using the Sushrut Samhita as a prime example, the process involved:
    1. Image Enhancement: Improving the quality of weathered manuscripts to make them readable.
    2. Machine Reading: Converting the improved images into machine-readable text.
    3. AI Avatar Narration: Using an AI avatar to read out and explain the ancient knowledge.
    4. Global Translation: Translating these texts into multiple Indian and foreign languages to make ancient science accessible to the world.

Launch of Sovereign AI Models

A defining moment of the summit was the launch of three “Made in India” sovereign AI models, signaling India’s shift toward technological self-reliance:

Model NameDeveloperKey Functionality
Sarvam AI (LLM)Sarvam AIIndigenous Large Language Models optimized for 22 Indian languages.
Vachana TTSGnani.aiA voice-cloning text-to-speech system for 12 Indian languages.
Param2 (17B)BharatGenA 17-billion-parameter multilingual model for governance and enterprise.

M.A.N.A.V. Vision and Global Impact

During the summit, the PM also outlined his M.A.N.A.V. Vision—a framework ensuring AI is Moral, Accountable, National (sovereign), Accessible, and Valid. This “human-centric” approach was widely lauded by global attendees, including Sam Altman (OpenAI) and Sundar Pichai (Google), positioning India as the moral compass of the global AI landscape.

PM Modi concluded the segment by praising the “unprecedented enthusiasm” of the youth and noting that the summit was a turning point for “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).
