Agastya Nanda Opens Up About Bachchan Legacy Pressure: ‘My Surname Is Nanda’

Actor Agastya Nanda, who recently made his theatrical debut with Ikkis, has spoken candidly about whether the towering legacy of the Bachchan family weighs on him as an actor. Despite being the grandson of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, and nephew to Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Agastya says he does not feel burdened by their cinematic achievements.

In a conversation with IMDb following the release of Ikkis, Agastya shared that he does not see the Bachchan legacy as something he needs to live up to. “I don’t take that pressure in the slightest because I know that’s not my legacy to own. My surname is Nanda because I’m my father’s son first,” he said. The actor added that his primary focus is on making his father proud, a responsibility he considers far more personal and meaningful.

Agastya acknowledged his admiration for his famous relatives and their work but stressed that he does not compare himself to them. “I admire their work, I love their work. But I don’t think I can ever be them, so it’s not even worth spending time thinking about it,” he explained.

Reflecting on his experience filming Ikkis, Agastya described the process as intense and unpredictable. He revealed that the shoot was often chaotic, with very few moments that went exactly as planned. The film, based on the life of Param Vir Chakra awardee Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, earned praise for Agastya’s sincere performance and marked a significant step forward after his OTT debut The Archies received a lukewarm response.

Ikkis also marked the acting debut of Simar Bhatia, Akshay Kumar’s niece, and was the final film of veteran actor Dharmendra, who passed away in November last year. Dharmendra played the role of Brigadier Madan Lal Khetarpal, Arun’s father, adding emotional depth to the war drama.
