Former Afghanistan fast bowler Shapoor Zadran has been hospitalised and is currently fighting for his life, according to information shared by his family on social media. The news has sent shockwaves through the cricketing fraternity, with fans and former players expressing deep concern over his health.
Shapoor Zadran, one of Afghanistan’s early cricketing stars, played a key role in the nation’s rise on the international stage. He represented Afghanistan in 80 international matches across ODIs and T20Is after making his debut against the Netherlands in 2009.
In 44 One Day Internationals, Zadran picked up 44 wickets, with his best figures being 4/24. He also featured in 36 T20 internationals, claiming 27 wickets, with a best performance of 3/40. Known for his aggression and fearless bowling, he was a vital part of Afghanistan’s pace attack during its formative years.
