Los Angeles (California) [US], March 3 : Actor Adrien Brody claimed his second Academy Award for Best Actor at the 2025 Oscars, winning for his role in Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist. He triumphed over strong contenders including Timothée Chalamet, Colman Domingo, Ralph Fiennes, and Sebastian Stan.

As Brody took the stage at the 97th Academy Awards to accept his trophy, he made a memorable entrance by spitting out his chewing gum into his hand and tossing it to his partner, Georgina Chapman. However, it was his acceptance speech that truly captured the attention of the audience. When the Academy’s music began to play, signaling the end of his time, Brody calmly asked them to “turn the music off.”
“I’m wrapping up, please turn the music off,” Brody said with a smile, adding, “I’ve done this before. Thank you. It’s not my first rodeo, but I will be brief.”
His speech offered a poignant reflection on the art of acting and the transient nature of success: “Acting is a very fragile profession. It looks very glamorous, and at certain moments it is. But the one thing that I’ve gained, having the privilege to come back here, is to have some perspective. No matter where you are in your career, no matter what you’ve accomplished, it can all go away.”
With this win, Brody joins the ranks of acting legends like Spencer Tracy, Jack Nicholson, and Tom Hanks, all of whom have won the Best Actor Oscar twice. Brody also became one of the youngest actors to achieve this milestone, having first won the award in 2003 for his role in The Pianist at just 29 years old.
The Brutalist has been both a critical and commercial success, earning 10 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actor.
The 2025 Oscars, hosted by Conan O’Brien, aired live at 7 pm ET on ABC and Hulu, with a live stream available in India via JioHotstar.
