Southampton [UK], June 11: England’s veteran spinner Adil Rashid is now just one step away from the top spot in the ICC Men’s T20I Bowling Rankings, climbing to second place after a standout performance in the recent T20I series against the West Indies.
Rashid showcased exceptional consistency during England’s 3-0 series sweep, picking up 1/22 at Chester-le-Street, 1/59 in Bristol, and 2/30 in Southampton. His efforts pushed him past Wanindu Hasaranga and Varun Chakaravarthy, bringing him within reach of New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy, who currently leads with a rating of 723 to Rashid’s 710.
England’s Dominance Reflects in Rankings Surge
England’s dominance in the T20I series followed their ODI triumph over the West Indies, and several players benefited in the latest ICC rankings:
- Brydon Carse jumped 16 places to 52nd among bowlers after picking up two wickets in the final two T20Is.
- Ben Duckett soared 48 spots to 16th in the T20I Batter Rankings, thanks to a fiery 84 off 46 balls in the third match.
- Harry Brook, with contributions of 35 and 34*, climbed six spots to joint 38th.
West Indies Players Also Make Gains
Despite the series loss, West Indies players also saw improvement:
- Shai Hope, with two solid 40s, jumped 14 spots to 15th in the batting charts.
- Rovman Powell‘s unbeaten 79 off 45 balls in the final game propelled him into the top 20 batters.
- Jason Holder moved up 16 spots to 26th in the All-Rounder Rankings with his 70 runs and a wicket in the series.
