Washington [US], December 7 : Actor Wyatt Russell, best known for his portrayal of John Walker in Marvel’s The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, is in advanced discussions to join the cast of Steven Spielberg’s upcoming event film for Amblin Entertainment and Universal Pictures.
Although plot details are being kept under wraps, sources suggest that Russell’s deal is nearly finalized, according to Deadline. He will join a star-studded ensemble that includes Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colman Domingo, Colin Firth, and Eve Hewson. The highly anticipated film is scheduled for a wide release on May 15, 2026.
The screenplay is written by David Koepp, who has previously collaborated with Spielberg on blockbuster hits such as Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Their partnership has grossed over $3 billion worldwide, as per Deadline.
Kristie Macosko Krieger, a five-time Oscar nominee, is producing the film, bringing her wealth of experience to Spielberg’s latest project. Spielberg’s previous film, The Fabelmans, earned seven Oscar nominations in 2022, including Best Picture and Best Director.
Russell, known for his roles in major films such as 22 Jump Street, Overlord, and The Woman in the Window, is no stranger to high-profile projects. He will also appear in Marvel’s Thunderbolts, set to release in May 2025, and stars in the Apple TV+ series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.
