New Delhi [India]: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is likely to initiate legal action against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, Mukesh Ahlawat, and Sanjay Singh, in the coming days. This decision follows the party’s failure to respond to a notice regarding allegations that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attempted to poach AAP MLAs, according to ACB sources.
Sources indicate that if no response is received from AAP, the ACB will write to the Delhi Police, requesting legal action against the mentioned AAP leaders.
On February 7, the Anti-Corruption Bureau issued a notice to AAP leader Mukesh Ahlawat concerning claims that BJP was attempting to lure leaders away from the Kejriwal-led party. Additionally, a notice was sent to AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, requesting his participation in an investigation into bribery allegations involving party MLAs.
The notice emphasized the gravity of the allegations, prompting the ACB to intervene swiftly to verify the claims. Kejriwal was asked to provide details regarding the 16 AAP MLAs allegedly offered bribes, the content of their related tweets, and the identities of those accused of making the offers. The ACB also sought any additional evidence supporting Kejriwal’s bribery claims, which had been widely shared on social media.
Kejriwal had accused the BJP of attempting to poach AAP candidates by offering them ₹15 crore each, a claim the BJP has strongly denied.
“Some agencies are showing that the ‘Gali Galoch party’ (Referring to the BJP) is getting more than 55 seats. In the last two hours, 16 of our candidates have received calls that if they leave AAP and join their party, they will make them ministers and will give ₹15 crores to each of them,” Kejriwal stated.
“If his party is getting more than 55 seats then what is the need for him to call our candidates? Obviously, these fake surveys have been conducted with the sole purpose of creating this atmosphere to break down some candidates. But you abusive people, not even one of our men will break down,” he added.
These allegations emerged just two days before the counting of votes for the Delhi Assembly elections on February 6.
