Karachi: Abrar Ahmed, a spinner from Pakistan, is making news on and off the field. A video from an interview in June 2025 has gone viral. In it, the 27-year-old bowler dares former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan to a boxing bout.
Sara Baloch, a TV personality, asked Abrar who he would like to fight in a boxing ring. Abrar sarcastically said,
“I’d love to get in the ring and box with Shikhar Dhawan.

Fans soon got into the lighthearted challenge, but Abrar didn’t say why he chose Dhawan. The Indian cricketer, who last played an international game in 2022, has not said anything about the comment.
Abrar Ahmed is getting married.
Aside from all the viral excitement, Abrar just got married in Karachi in a private ceremony with only close relatives and friends. On October 6, there was a big reception with many important visitors, including as Shaheen Afridi, Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood, and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
The spinner met his guests in person and thanked them for their blessings. Reports say that both families agreed to the marriage. Videos of the celebrations showed Abrar dancing happily with family and friends to the sound of drums.
Back to the Cricket
After the celebrations, Abrar will go back to Lahore to join the Pakistan Test team and get ready for the two-match series against South Africa that starts on October 12. The series is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 cycle, and it will also be the first time senior players Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan play again.
Abrar has been one of Pakistan’s best spinners since he made his first appearance in an international match in 2022. He has taken 93 wickets in 10 Tests, 11 ODIs, and 23 T20Is, including two five-wicket hauls in Test cricket. He was also in the team that made it to the final of the 2025 ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup.
