As Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) concluded their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 campaign, Raj Kumar Sharma, father of explosive opener Abhishek Sharma, praised Yuvraj Singh for playing a pivotal role in shaping his son’s cricketing journey.
“Yuvraj Singh has played a major role in Abhishek’s success,” Raj Kumar told media.
“He has worked really hard on him, and Abhishek has also put in the effort. I’m very proud of my son, his hard work is taking him forward. This game is all about performance, and those who perform, move ahead.”

Despite SRH failing to reach the playoffs, Abhishek stood out as a consistent performer. He became the only batter in IPL history to score 400+ runs in two consecutive seasons, both at a strike rate exceeding 180 — a rare achievement showcasing his dominance at the top of the order.
Abhishek reached this milestone during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) — Match 68 of the season — held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi, on Sunday.
Reflecting on SRH’s season, Raj Kumar added,
“SRH is a very good team… but I don’t know why they couldn’t win more matches this year. When the IPL started, we thought they would perform well. It’s okay, next year they’ll come with better preparation and fix the things that lacked.”
In that final game, Heinrich Klaasen delivered a stunning century, scoring 105 off just 39 balls, including seven fours and nine sixes. His 37-ball ton became the fastest century of IPL 2025. Travis Head also chipped in with a powerful fifty, as SRH posted a mammoth 278/3 — the third-highest total in IPL history.
KKR had no answers to SRH’s firepower and collapsed while chasing 279, falling short by 110 runs. Their batting line-up was dismantled by Jaydev Unadkat, Eshan Malinga, and Harsh Dubey, each claiming three wickets.
SRH finished the season in sixth place, while KKR ended eighth. Though the campaign ended in disappointment, Abhishek Sharma’s performance remains a massive positive for SRH’s future plans.
