Star Indian batter Abhishek Sharma has added another milestone to his extraordinary T20 season, becoming the first Indian cricketer ever to hit 100 sixes in a single calendar year. The young left-handed opener from Punjab continued his dominant run in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025, smashing a superb 62 off just 34 balls, laced with eight fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 182.35.
Abhishek has been in blistering form throughout 2024–25, compiling 1,499 runs in T20s this year at an impressive average of 42.82 and a staggering strike rate of 204.22. His tally includes three centuries and nine fifties, with a breathtaking top score of 148, which also came in the ongoing SMAT.

In the current edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Abhishek has accumulated 304 runs at an average of 50.66 and a jaw-dropping strike rate close to 250. His tournament tally includes one century and two fifties, making him the second-highest run-scorer so far.
Punjab Pile Up 233/6 After Explosive Batting Display
In their latest match, Punjab were asked to bowl first by Services, but their batting unit made the biggest impact.
The innings was set up by a powerful 106-run partnership between Prabhsimran Singh (50 off 28 balls, 7 fours, 2 sixes) and Abhishek Sharma. The momentum carried through the middle overs as:
- Anmolpreet Singh contributed a swift 34 off 23 balls
- Naman Dhir unleashed a sensational 54 off just 22 balls, hammering six sixes and two fours
The collective effort took Punjab to a commanding 233/6 in 20 overs.
For Services, Abhishek Tiwari and Vikas Gaur were the standout bowlers, picking up two wickets each.
