Abhishek Bachchan has offered a rare and candid insight into how his family — especially Aishwarya Rai Bachchan — shields their daughter Aaradhya Bachchan from the constant glare and speculation surrounding the Bachchan household. In a recent interaction, the actor spoke about the values and discipline that guide Aaradhya’s upbringing despite the environment she is growing up in.
What Abhishek Bachchan Said
In a conversation with PeepingMoon, Abhishek credited Aishwarya for nurturing their daughter’s understanding of the film industry and shaping her emotional resilience.
“Aishwarya has instilled a great respect in Aaradhya towards the film industry and what we do. She has taught her that we are what we are because of what the films and audience have given us,” he said.
He shared that Aaradhya is growing into a confident teenager with strong individuality.
“She has an opinion. She is a very sure teenager. She has distinct opinions which we discuss in private, but she has a wonderful way of conveying everything,” Abhishek added.
Aaradhya Stays Away From Social Media
Despite belonging to one of India’s most recognisable film families, Aaradhya remains largely untouched by the world of social media and gossip portals. Abhishek revealed that the 14-year-old does not own a mobile phone.
“She is 14 years old and she doesn’t have a phone. If her friends want to get in touch with her, they have to call her mother’s phone — that’s something we decided a long time ago,” he said.
While Aaradhya does have supervised access to the internet, her usage is purely academic.
“She has access to the internet, but she is more interested in doing her homework and researching. She loves school, so she is into that,” he added.
Why Aaradhya Remains Unfazed by Rumours
Addressing whether Aaradhya ever gets affected by online chatter about her parents, Abhishek said she simply isn’t interested in browsing such content.
“I don’t think she does that. I don’t think that is what interests her, and she won’t believe anything she reads. Her mother has taught her not to believe everything that she reads,” he explained.
He further added that their home environment — built on openness and trust — keeps confusion and misinformation at bay.
“Like my parents were with me, we are completely honest with the family. So, we are never in a position where anyone needs to question anybody.”
Abhishek Confirms Lifestyle Changes
The actor also addressed long-circulating claims that he quit smoking and drinking after learning Aishwarya was pregnant.
Confirming the speculation, he said, “I have stopped both of these, sadly. No, I don’t touch them at all.”
Abhishek and Aishwarya, who married in 2007, welcomed Aaradhya in 2011.
