AB De Villiers Returns To Cricket As Captain Of Game Changers South Africa In World Championship Of Legends

New Delhi [India], January 28: Cricket fans worldwide are in for a treat as South African cricket legend AB de Villiers announces his much-anticipated return to the sport after nearly four years. De Villiers, celebrated for his innovative and dynamic style of play, will captain the Game Changers South Africa Champions in the second edition of the World Championship of Legends (WCL), a premier T20 tournament featuring retired and non-contracted cricket greats.

Reflecting on his decision to return, de Villiers shared, “Four years ago, I retired from all cricket because I didn’t feel the urge to play anymore. But over time, my young sons started playing the game, and we’ve spent more time in the garden. It feels like some flame has been reignited.” He added, “So, I’m back in the gym and the nets, preparing for WCL in July.”

Known for his versatility and fearless batting, de Villiers’ return has generated immense excitement in the cricketing world. Under his leadership, the Game Changers squad, which previously featured cricketing legends like Jacques Kallis, Herschelle Gibbs, Dale Steyn, and Imran Tahir, is poised for an even stronger showing in the upcoming edition.

Amandeep Singh, Co-Owner of South Africa Champions and Founder of Game Changers, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “We are honored to compete in the World Championship of Legends and showcase the incredible talent of our cricketing greats. AB de Villiers’ return as our captain is a huge boost, and his leadership will inspire us to new heights.”

Harry Singh, Co-Owner of South Africa Champions, added, “AB de Villiers is an icon who has inspired millions around the world. His decision to lead our team reflects his deep love for the game, and we are thrilled to have him on board. This is a historic moment for our team and the league.”

Harshit Tomar, Founder and CEO of the World Championship of Legends, shared his excitement, saying, “This is exactly why we launched the WCL – to bring back the legends we miss. As a fan of AB de Villiers, I’m thrilled to see him return to the field, and I’m sure cricket fans in England and beyond will be equally delighted.”

Nishant Pitti, Chief Patron of the WCL, added, “Our partnership with the World Championship of Legends celebrates cricket’s golden era. The return of AB de Villiers embodies the spirit of the league, and we are privileged to witness this iconic moment.”
