August 3, 2025: The South Africa Champions have been crowned the champions of the World Championship of Legends 2025 after a dominant nine-wicket victory over the Pakistan Champions in the final. The win was anchored by a blistering century from legendary batter AB de Villiers, who powered his team to the title.
South Africa’s path to the final saw them finish second in the group stage before a thrilling one-run victory over the Australia Champions in the semi-finals.
The tournament’s final, however, was preceded by controversy. The Pakistan Champions, who topped the group stage, were scheduled to face archrivals India in the semi-finals. But just as they had done in the group stage, Yuvraj Singh and his team forfeited the match, citing “ongoing tensions between the countries after the terror attack at Pahalgam.” This decision allowed Pakistan to advance directly to the final.
With this decisive victory, the South Africa Champions become the second-ever champions of the tournament, following the inaugural winners, India.
