Los Angeles [US]: The Dark Knight and Olympus Has Fallen star Aaron Eckhart is set to headline the upcoming plane-set action thriller ‘Midair’, directed by Timo Vuorensola, known for Jeepers Creepers: Reborn and Iron Sky.
Following Vuorensola’s 2023 aviation thriller 97 Minutes, Midair will mark his second foray into high-altitude suspense. The film, penned by George Mahaffey (Chief of Station), is slated to begin production in September.
The official synopsis teases a gripping narrative:
“When a seasoned ex-CIA cargo pilot embarks on a crucial flight to celebrate his son’s birthday, he is thrust into a harrowing battle for survival as a rogue agent takes control of the plane. Facing deadly threats and a ticking clock, he must navigate treacherous skies while protecting his passengers and uncover a sinister plot. As the stakes escalate, he discovers that loyalty and courage will be tested in ways he never imagined—all while fighting to reclaim control of his aircraft and safeguard his family’s future.”
Jamie Thompson (producer of 97 Minutes) and Jon Keeyes will produce the film, with Matthew Shreder executive producing under Concourse Media, which is co-financing the project and handling worldwide rights. According to Variety, most international territories are already sold, with remaining rights, including domestic, set to be pitched at the Cannes Film Market next week.
With Eckhart’s proven prowess in action and suspense roles and Vuorensola’s flair for intense thrillers, Midair promises to deliver a turbulence-filled cinematic ride.
