New Delhi [India]: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi President and MP Saurabh Bharadwaj criticized both Congress and the BJP on Tuesday, accusing the former of undermining opposition unity and the latter of misleading voters with false promises.
Addressing media on the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, Bharadwaj alleged that certain Congress leaders’ statements have inadvertently aided the BJP, diverting attention from serious issues.
“Whenever opposition parties have targeted the BJP on genuine concerns, some leaders from Congress issue statements that help the BJP shift the narrative. This has always weakened opposition unity,” said Bharadwaj.
He also launched a sharp attack on the BJP’s poll promise to give ₹2,500 monthly to women in Delhi, calling it a “bundle of lies.”
“The PM promised every woman ₹2,500 per month. JP Nadda, Amit Shah — all endorsed it and said it would be passed in the first cabinet meeting. It was supposed to begin before March 8. Now, it’s being revealed that only women above 21 will be eligible, and only one woman per family with a BPL or ration card can receive it,” Bharadwaj said.
He further alleged that the payout was conditional on children’s vaccination status and that a portion of the money would be withheld initially.
“Even ministers’ and officials’ salaries can be stopped at this rate. Now they say only vaccinated children’s mothers will be eligible? This entire scheme reeks of deception. No government has lost credibility this quickly,” he added.
Bharadwaj accused the ruling party of winning elections through gimmicks like free sarees, shoes, and cash, warning that the public would soon hold them accountable.
