AAP’s Sanjay Singh Calls For Suspension Of Parvesh Verma, DM, And SHO For MCC Violation

New Delhi [India], January 14: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh on Tuesday accused BJP candidate Parvesh Verma of violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and called for the suspension of the District Magistrate (DM) and Delhi Police SHO to ensure an impartial investigation.

Speaking to the media, Singh stated, “The Election Commission, Delhi Police, DM, and SHO are too intimidated by the BJP to take action. After the MCC came into effect, Parvesh Verma himself tweeted about distributing spectacles, and there is evidence of money being distributed. Yet, the SHO and DM claim they have no proof. If the Election Commission intends to investigate, it will not get any support from this DM. An impartial investigation is essential, or else the MCC will continue to be violated openly.”

Singh further added, “Parvesh Verma is directly responsible for violating the MCC. Both the DM and SHO should be suspended.”

In a separate statement, Singh also targeted the BJP over its Chief Ministerial candidate, claiming that infighting within the party had led to confusion over who would be the CM face. “When we learned that Ramesh Bidhuri would be the BJP’s CM candidate, infighting erupted within the party, and Bidhuri later denied being the CM face. Who is the groom? How can the BJP go into the elections without a groom for the wedding procession? It’s alarming that the elections are approaching, and the people of Delhi don’t even know who the BJP’s CM face is,” Singh remarked.

On January 9, the Election Commission of India instructed the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi to investigate AAP’s complaint against Parvesh Verma and take “immediate appropriate action” as per the Model Code of Conduct. AAP had raised concerns regarding alleged violations by Verma, the BJP candidate for the New Delhi constituency, and claims of alterations to the electoral roll in the area.

The Delhi assembly elections are scheduled for February 5, with the vote counting set for February 8.
