New Delhi [India], February 23: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is set to hold a crucial meeting on Sunday afternoon with its legislative party members to finalize the name of the Leader of Opposition and strategize on the issues to raise in the first session of the Delhi Assembly. AAP’s national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, will be present at the meeting.
- Leader of Opposition Decision: The meeting will take place at the AAP headquarters on Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla Lane in New Delhi, where legislative members will decide on their Leader of Opposition.
- Upcoming Delhi Assembly Session: The first session of the newly formed Delhi Assembly will begin on February 24, with the swearing-in of MLAs and appointment of the new Speaker. BJP’s Vijender Gupta has been nominated as the Speaker, and Arvinder Singh Lovely will serve as the pro-tem Speaker in the interim.
- CAG Report to Be Tabled: On the second day of the session (February 25), the Comptroller and Auditor General’s (CAG) report will be presented in the assembly. The report allegedly highlights corruption and irregularities during the tenure of the previous AAP government, including issues related to excise policy, the renovation of the former CM’s residence, and education policies. BJP MLA Harish Khurana stated that the report would bring several issues to light, including the so-called “Sheesh Mahal.”
Sonia Mann Joins AAP: In another development, Punjabi actor and daughter of Kirti Kisan Union leader Baldev Singh, Sonia Mann, joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab on Saturday. The actor, known for her roles in various regional languages and music videos, was welcomed by Arvind Kejriwal at the event. Her father, a farm leader, was tragically killed by Khalistani militants in the 1980s.
AAP’s strategic meetings and recent political moves highlight their focus on both internal leadership decisions and tackling key issues in the upcoming legislative sessions.
