AAP Protests In Parliament Premises Over Deteriorating Law And Order In Delhi

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs staged a protest within the Parliament premises on Friday, raising concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi.

The protest was led by AAP leaders Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak, and other party members. The move came after a blast was reported in Delhi’s Prashant Vihar on Thursday. Fire tenders rushed to the site, and teams from the National Security Guard (NSG), Delhi Police’s Crime Branch, Special Cell, and the Bomb Disposal Squad were deployed. A high alert was declared in the national capital following the explosion.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, who has been critical of the situation, compared the current law and order climate in the capital to Mumbai in the 1990s, a time when the city was under the grip of the underworld. “Delhi has become like 90s Mumbai, a time when it was dominated by the underworld, as seen in TV shows and films,” she said.

Atishi also targeted Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging him to focus on the safety of Delhi’s residents after the election campaigns. She alleged that extortion calls were being made from areas near Shah’s residence. “The BJP and Amit Shah ji have one primary responsibility, but today, extortion calls and gunfire incidents are occurring within a 5-10 km radius of the Home Minister’s residence. Now, we are witnessing bomb blasts as well,” she stated.

Referring to the explosion in Prashant Vihar, Atishi held Amit Shah and the BJP accountable for the city’s worsening law and order situation. “A blast occurred near a school, just two streets away from Prashant Vihar. Such incidents are happening regularly. The Union Home Minister and the BJP are responsible for these failures. The Centre’s sole duty in Delhi is law and order, while other matters fall under the Delhi government’s jurisdiction,” she emphasized.
