New Delhi [India], January 27: Ahead of the Aam Aadmi Party’s manifesto release for the upcoming Delhi Assembly Election 2025, Haryana AAP chief and party MP Sushil Gupta praised Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his effective governance, while accusing the BJP of copying AAP’s initiatives.
Gupta emphasized that Kejriwal is a leader who keeps his promises and runs a government focused on delivering essential services efficiently. “Across the country, Arvind Kejriwal is a leader who does what he says. He introduced free electricity, free water, improved the quality of schools and hospitals, and provided free bus travel for women. He governs for the people’s welfare,” Gupta stated. “Meanwhile, the BJP is simply copying Arvind Kejriwal’s initiatives and claiming they will implement them in Delhi, despite having failed to deliver such services in states they govern.”
The AAP is set to release its manifesto for the 2025 Delhi Assembly Election today.
In response, BJP candidate Harish Khurana from Moti Nagar criticized AAP for failing to fulfill promises from its past manifestos. “AAP should answer about their unfulfilled promises, like cleaning the Yamuna. Delhi has become the most polluted capital, and people still lack proper water supply. The BJP is set to come to power in Delhi,” he remarked.
The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for February 5, with the counting of votes on February 8. A total of 699 candidates are competing for 70 assembly seats. In the previous two assembly elections, AAP dominated with 67 seats in 2015 and 62 in 2020, while the BJP secured only 3 and 8 seats, respectively. The Congress, which held power in Delhi for 15 consecutive years, has struggled in recent elections, failing to win any seats.
