AAP MP Sanjay Singh Claims BJP Filed Two Applications to Remove His Wife’s Name From Voter List

New Delhi [India], December 29: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of attempting to remove his wife, Anita Singh, from the voter list on two separate occasions. Speaking at a press conference, Singh claimed, “The BJP ran a campaign to remove voters from the list, specifically targeting my wife. They submitted applications to delete her name from the voter list not once, but twice – on December 24 and 26 – in the New Delhi constituency, which is represented by Arvind Kejriwal.”

This accusation comes after Arvind Kejriwal, former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener, also alleged that the BJP was executing an “Operation Lotus” in the New Delhi constituency from December 15. Kejriwal claimed the BJP had filed applications to delete 5,000 names from the voter list and add 7,500 new names during this period. “Why hold elections if you’re manipulating around 12% of the total voters in the assembly?” Kejriwal questioned, pointing to the apparent discrepancies in voter registrations.

On December 6, Kejriwal had accused the BJP of attempting to “cut votes” from the voter list ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly election. He claimed the BJP had filed applications to remove the names of 11,000 voters, asserting that most of these individuals were AAP supporters. Kejriwal said that when they investigated, they found that many of the voters listed as “shifted” or “deceased” were still residing at the same addresses, and that 75% of the requests appeared to be incorrect.

The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for early 2025. In the 2020 Assembly elections, AAP secured 62 out of 70 seats, while the BJP won 8 seats.
