New Delhi [India], March 28: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Delhi Assembly, Atishi, along with other AAP MLAs, staged a protest in the Delhi Assembly on Friday, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of failing to fulfill its promises under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana 2025.
Key Allegations by AAP
- Unfulfilled Election Promise: Atishi claimed that the BJP government failed to credit ₹2500 to the accounts of Delhi’s women as promised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi before the elections.
- AAP MLAs Removed from Assembly: She alleged that AAP MLAs were expelled from the House when they questioned the government about the status of the scheme.
- Diversion Tactics: Atishi accused the BJP of focusing on renaming Mustafabad Assembly Constituency to divert attention from their unfulfilled promise.
“The BJP leaders and PM Modi had promised the women of Delhi that by March 8, ₹2500 would be credited to their accounts. But they haven’t done so, nor do they intend to. When we raised this question in the Assembly, we were thrown out. This proves that the BJP government has lied to the people of Delhi,” Atishi said.
AAP vs BJP Over Delhi’s Power Crisis
In a separate development, AAP Chief and former CM Arvind Kejriwal slammed the BJP-led Delhi government over worsening power outages.
His remarks came after Jagatpur village residents in Burari staged a protest against prolonged power cuts.
Kejriwal claimed that the AAP government had ensured 24/7 electricity for 10 years, but the power situation has deteriorated within 1.5 months of BJP’s rule.
“We had built a strong power supply system in Delhi with great difficulty. For ten years, there were no power cuts. But in just one and a half months, they have ruined it,” he said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
BJP Yet to Respond
The BJP has not yet responded to AAP’s accusations regarding the Mahila Samridhi Yojana or the power crisis.
