AAP Leaders Saurabh Bharadwaj and Sanjay Singh Protest At PM’s Residence, Denied Entry

New Delhi, January 8 : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, including Saurabh Bharadwaj and Sanjay Singh, staged a protest outside the Prime Minister’s residence on Wednesday after being denied entry. The protest followed a series of allegations by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding the opulent features of the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence, including claims of a “golden toilet,” swimming pool, and mini bar.

Bharadwaj, along with other AAP leaders, initially attempted to enter the residence of Delhi’s Chief Minister before heading to the Prime Minister’s residence, demanding that both be shown to the public for transparency. The AAP leaders had earlier challenged the BJP’s claims about the CM’s house and called for the public to be allowed to view both residences to settle the matter.

“We came here to end the debate of ‘tera ghar, mera ghar.’ We believe that both the PM’s and CM’s residences should be open for the public to see. We came here with the media, but we were stopped outside the ‘Raj Mahal,'” Bharadwaj said, referring to the PM’s official residence.

Sanjay Singh, an AAP MP, accused the BJP of making baseless allegations against the CM’s residence. “They talk about a golden toilet and swimming pool, but they have failed to provide any proof. Now, when we are here with the media, the BJP is hiding behind barricades and water cannons. They should show us where these luxuries are,” Singh asserted.

The protest began earlier in the day when Bharadwaj criticized the BJP for continuously sending new photos and videos of the CM’s residence to the media, but refusing to show the property to the public. “Now that we’ve come here with the media, they’ve set up layers of barricades and water cannons to stop us. They should show the public the so-called swimming pool, bar, and golden toilets,” Bharadwaj added.

The AAP leaders also reiterated their challenge for the public to view the Prime Minister’s residence, given the BJP’s focus on the CM’s house. “If the BJP wants people to vote based on residences, we’re ready to show both the CM and PM’s houses to the public,” Bharadwaj concluded.

Earlier in the day, Bharadwaj and Singh had staged a sit-in outside the CM’s residence after being denied entry by police, engaging in heated arguments with officers stationed there. Despite the tension, the AAP leaders remained firm in their demand for transparency regarding both the Prime Minister’s and Chief Minister’s official residences.
