AAP Leader Sanjay Singh Slams Election Commission Over Alleged Inaction In Delhi Elections

New Delhi [India], February 4: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh launched a strong attack on the Election Commission (EC) on Sunday, accusing it of inaction amid reports of violence and hooliganism in Delhi ahead of the Assembly elections.

Singh’s remarks came after the Delhi Police filed a case against Delhi Chief Minister and AAP candidate Atishi for violating the Model Code of Conduct. Singh alleged that BJP candidates were intimidating journalists and claimed that the Election Commission had retaliated against opposition leaders instead of ensuring a free and fair election.

“There is no institution called the Election Commission. The Supreme Court, Parliament, and Election Commission are all operating under BJP’s watch. Hooliganism is occurring openly in the Kalkaji constituency. Relatives of Ramesh Bidhuri are seen roaming around, and in Jangpura, the BJP candidate is out at night threatening and beating journalists. All of this is happening while the Election Commission turns a blind eye,” Singh said in a statement.

He further criticized the Commission, stating, “Instead of taking action, they have retaliated against a woman Chief Minister and filed a case against her. This is the reality in Delhi right now.”

Singh also condemned the Delhi Police for allegedly responding to complaints by beating those reporting crimes and taking them away, instead of addressing the issues.

Earlier in the day, AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal made similar allegations, accusing the Election Commission and Delhi Police of working together to support hooliganism against AAP and protect the BJP’s alleged wrongdoing. Kejriwal claimed that the authorities were disrupting the electoral process and favouring the BJP by engaging in activities like distributing liquor and money.

Regarding the upcoming Delhi election, Singh remained confident, stating, “There is no question of losing. People are giving one-way votes to the Aam Aadmi Party. You will see that more than sixty seats will come to the Aam Aadmi Party.”

With Delhi set to go to the polls on February 5, the Election results will be declared on February 8. Monday marked the last day of campaigning for the Delhi Assembly elections.
